Firing Heads - OneStepAhead Energy offers Hydraulic Firing Head and Mechanical Firing Head as per the industry practices. The hydraulic firing head is dominantly used globally where string is filled with a liquid cushion however mechanical firing head is more dominantly used when the string has partial cushion. A redundant Firing Head option is also available in order to run a hydraulic and mechanical firing head together at once. Gun Release - Automatic gun release is designed to drop a gun string into the rathole immediately after firing. Dropping the gun string immediately after firing has several advantages over deploying slickline shifting tools and pressure activated release tools. These include: avoiding the gun string sanding in when perforating weak sands, allowing efficient post perforation cleanup in permanent completions and eliminating the complications of dropping guns in highly deviated wells.
Mechanical Gun Release is designed to provide an option to drop the guns into the rathole after firing. The release is usually run about 30ft above the guns and below the ported debris sub under the packer. Operation of the release consists of engaging the profile in the latch with a standard slickline Type B shifting tool, jarring upward to shear the latch retainer screws. When the screws shear, the latch moves up allowing the tool to separate, dropping the gun assembly into the rathole and simultaneously releasing the shifting tool.
